Yesterday (June 24), Guangdong Science and Technology authorities released a few exciting data of the province's effort of innovation capacity enhancement.

In September 2005, State Education Ministry signed an agreement with Guangdong to help the province's innovation capacity improvement. Last year, Guangdong provincial government initiated a fund with 100 million RMB for enhancing the manufacturers, universities and R&D institutions' cooperation on innovation. The move received hot response: provincial departments and municipal governments input over 1 billion RMB and the local enterprises 16.5 billion RMB. The manufacturers, universities and R&D institutions' cooperation projects on innovation totaled 3,287 in number.

Besides these projects, some universities in or outside the province had worked closely with Guangdong local governments and enterprises in innovation and R&D. For example, Dongguan invested 400 million RMB to established 5 research units with Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.
