Those who are separated from families and spouses or have low standards of morality are easily infected with HIV because of frequent shifts from one place of work to another.

Guangdong, as one of the three provinces where AIDS prevention in working conditions are under trial, will carry out trials in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Zhongshan. The trials will be conducted among employees of seven enterprises engaged in electronic manufacturing, hardware processing and apparel industries.

The trials aim to minimize the impacts posed by AIDS on production and profits. The trials will also heighten worker awareness of AIDS prevention methods and help them to fight discrimination against workers infected with AIDS. 

Liang Manguang, Vice Chairman of Guangdong Association for Labor Studies, said that professionals will provide various kinds of training, technological support and publicity materials to the enterprises aimed at integrating AIDS prevention with various activities, employment training and vocational education providing essential information including where to get governmental support and service including free examination and treatment. The seven enterprises are obligated to submit reports to relevant officials in charge of AIDS prevention from provincial departments every six months.
