The second Chinese Culture and Art Festival will be held in Guangzhou from November 19th to 22nd. More than 200 overseas Chinese organizations and representatives of overseas Chinese from over 40 countries and regions are expected to come to Guangzhou. The Second (Guangzhou) Chinese Culture and Art Festival is jointly sponsored by the Guangdong Province Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the Guangzhou City Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese with "gathering overseas Chinese, promoting harmonious development" as its central theme.

An opening ceremony and a grand parade will be held on November 20th. During the festival, the following four events will be held: meetings of famous calligrapher and painters from home and abroad; Guangdong opera and music (home and abroad) exchanges, culinary skill (home and abroad) exchanges; and a Canton folk costumes show.

The organizer disclosed that they would hold the Miss XiGuan finals competition in cooperation with related aspects of Liwan District. Concrete issues of cooperation are still under negotiation. The second and third generations of overseas Chinese could participate in the competition. Once the cooperation becomes possible, besides the local "Miss XiGuan", Citizens of Guangzhou will have the opportunity to appreciate the overseas "Miss XiGuan".

To register for the participation of the competition, overseas Chinese can visit the following websites:
Guangdong Province Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese: http://www.gdql.org
Bridge for Guangzhou Overseas Chinese: http://www.ob-news.net
The application deadline is August 20.
