The Olympic Scientific Congress in Guangzhou will adopt a format of four-organization combination instead of four individual conventions practiced separately by ICSSPE, FIMS, IOC and IPC, the organizer told in the set-up ceremony of organizing committee for the Congress on Wednesday.
The Guangzhou Olympic Scientific Congress is slated to stage from August 1-5, a week prior to the opening of Beijing Olympic Games.
It's the first time for the four organizations, ICSSPE (International Council of Sports Science and Physical Education), FIMS (Federation of Medicine Science), IOC (International Olympic Committee) and IPC (International Paralympic Committee), to work together in sports science congress.
The Guangzhou Congress boasts as the biggest convention ever on sports science since its first edition put on in Germany in 1972.
"There will be an approximate 2,500 representatives to attend the Congress. The Guangzhou Olympic Scientific Congress is the biggest convention ever for sports science promotion," said Luo Ou, vice president of the organizing committee.
"The Congress will implement a complete new format as four sports organization work together, so it's expected to be an influential and high-profile sports science convention. It's also a milestone in the revolution and progress of international sports science, education and medicine."
The sports science convention will cover a wide range of disciplines like sports for the disabled, social culture and psychology, sports medicine, nutrition science, sports education, physical chemistry, training science and so on.
