According to the Briefing on Guangzhou's Regional Economic Situations in First Quarter released by the Statistics Bureau of Guangzhou Municipality, 5 of the 12 districts and county-level cities of Guangzhou achieved a GDP of over RMB 10 billion.

Yuexiu District and Tianhe District in the central region had the most aggregate GDP. The economic increase of the southern region was the fastest: Nansha District had an abrupt increase of 66%, ranking No. one of Guangzhou.

The Briefing shows that the economic size of Guangzhou's central region (Yuexiu District, Tianhe District and Liwan District) continued to stay competitive. The total GDP of the three districts amounted to RMB 63.077 billion, accounting for 41.9% of the total of Guangzhou. Among the 5 districts with over RMB 10 billion, Yuexiu and Tianhe District continued to hold the lead with RMB 27.006 billion and RMB 26.487 billion respectively. Luogang District, Baiyun District and Panyu District followed, with RMB 17.157 billion, RMB 14.143 billion and RMB 13.888 billion respectively.
