On May 7th, the last day of the Guangdong/Hong Kong International Cartoon and Animation Festival, young people and children actively contributed comments on their favorite mascot images. Guangzhou Asian Games emblem designer Zhang Qiang said that he will listen to the voices of young people to create a charming image featuring local characteristics. He said use of cartoon elements were seen to be helpful to the design of a more representative and popular Asian Games mascot.
The designer said that young people have creative and unique ideas and a large number of original cartoon characters with local features were shown at the Cartoon and Animation Festival and these lovely images were warmly welcome by young people. Mr. Zhang said that, for the mascot of the Games, designers should explore local characteristics and develop a whole range of products. Therefore, the acceptance and love of young people and other members of the public are important reference factors.
