It has been learned from the Food Safety Credit System Conference held on April 5th that Guangzhou would build a center for real-time monitoring of food quality during production, circulation and consumption and for providing early warnings.

Food safety information will be released to the public like a weather forecast. The monitoring system will first be adopted in some large supermarkets and meat markets, and will then be extended to Guangzhou's food production and processing enterprises and large restaurants.

This year Guangzhou will carry out electronic monitoring of agricultural and industrial production of food, and use electronic information technologies in the day-to-day supervision of food safety. Production and circulation corporations will widely use bar-code technology, RFID technology and other electronic labels to record product origins, and the use of pesticides, fertilizers or additives.

An "E-label" is like a  food's ID card. Consumers can get basic information through special devices. If there is a food safety problem, the food can be tracked according to the "e-label", so as to eliminate potential safety problems in the shortest amount of time.
