With the beginning of the construction of the Guangdong Provincial Museum, Guangzhou Municipal Theatre, and other major public facilities and landmark buildings, more and more enterprises are coming to the Zhujiang New Town, said Tianhe District's Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.

An official said that by 2010, the Zhujiang New Town Central Business District (CBD) would be basically completed, forming a hub for regional headquarters, agent services and regional financial services.
The commercial areas around the new urban axis have taken shape, said Li Zhiyun, Director General of Tianhe's Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.

CBDs in the northern part of Tianhe District, such as Citic Plaza, promote the development of the office buildings, hotels, shopping centers on Tianhe Bei Road. In this area a large number of internationally well-known corporate headquarters and foreign institutions have gathered, including HSBC, Citibank and 30 other major banks and non-bank financial institutions, 27 of the world's top 100 enterprises, the Consulate General of Sweden, and the Consulate General of Finland.

CBDs near the Tianhe Sports Center, such as TeeMall Plaza and Grandview Plaza (Zhengjia Plaza), form a large shopping area. With the construction of the east part of TeeMall, the east part of the Grandview Plaza, Taikoo Hui and the New International Plaza, the commercial area will reach over 200 million square meters and will be developed into the city's central commercial district.
