Senior citizens in Guangzhou exceed 1 Million - Guangdong - News Brief

The total number of senior citizens in Guangzhou exceeds 1 million according to the latest statistics of the Housing Department. The number of Guangzhou seniors increased from 945, 000 to to 1 million since the last count signifying that 1 out of 7 Guangzhou residents (Registered Permanent Population) is classed as a senior citizen.

In the coming years, the aging population in Guangzhou will increase at a rate of around 4 percent per year until 2035 when the rate will slow gradually turn to a negative figure.
