"E-Paper" R & D Center Settles in Shamian, Liwan District

The Seminar on Electronic Paper Information Technology Industrialization held on March 10, 2007 in Beijing brought to light that "E-Paper", a major new high-tech company, will settle in Shamian, Liwan District, Guangzhou. This is another of the major moves of Liwan District to attract multinational companies and high-tech enterprises to establish their headquarters and R & D centers in the district.

"E-Paper" technology was researched and developed by Dr. Guofu Zhou, a Netherlandish Chinese scientist, inventor of the process using the electrophoretic display technology to enhance some E-paper screen features such as high definition, high brightness, and wide viewing angle which are very close to those of the normal print paper.  Additionally the result is not sensitive to vision distorcion. According to Dr. Zhou, the technology has been widely used abroad yet still in the preliminary tactile stages in China. The settlement of R & D Center and Sales Headquarters in Liwan District is a preparatory step for exploring the industrial market for this technology in China with Guangzhou as its center.

At present, the application of "E-Paper" technology in China focuses mainly on e-Government, education, and e-book bags.
