According to the Urban Construction Projects Conference held on the morning of February 5, the auto passenger transportation system of Zhujiang New Town, the Zhongshan Road Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project and the Jinshanzhou vacuum pipeline garbage collection system will begin construction this year.

This year, Guangzhou is to complete the final phase of Rail Transit Line 3, to continue the installation of screen doors for Rail Transit Line 1, and to start the construction of the airport section of Rail Transit Line 3, the Line 5 Project, the auto passenger transport system of Zhujiang New Town, and the Guangfo inter-city rail transit project.

There are 20 road construction projects in 2007, including transport hubs projects and road networks for large construction projects. By the end of 2007, the third-phase of Huanan Rapid Line and the Zhongshan Road BRT project will be completed.

This year more effort will be made for the trial operation of Dashadi sewage treatment plant and Liede (third) sewage treatment plant; Longgui, Zhuliao and Jiufo sewage treatment plants will be completed by the first half of 2007 and be tested in September, said Chen Gui, Director of the Guangzhou Construction Commission.

By the end of 2007, Guangzhou will accomplish the sewage collection projects for 7 river branches--Shahe Yong, Liede Yong, Huangpu Yong, Huadihe, Dasha he, Wu He and Chebei Yong-- to prevent sewage from flowing into rivers.

This year the construction of Likong Garbage Incineration Power Plant and the Jinshanzhou vacuum pipeline garbage collection system will begin. The preliminary work for Guangzhou's third garbage incineration power plant and the Xingfeng No. 2 Household Garbage Landfill will be started.

Guangzhou will promote the construction of the new radio & television tower, the underground space development of the Zhujiang New Town, and the construction of the surrounding facilities of the Asian Games venues.
