According to the Guangzhou Metro Corporation, Guangzhou Metro had a total passenger flow of 6.7 million persons during the 7 days of the Chinese New Year holiday.

The opening of Guangzhou Metro Line 3 and Line 4 before the holiday has completed the metro network and thus brought the tremendous growth of passenger number during the Chinese New Year holiday.

During the holiday, the average daily passenger number was 960 thousand and the 7-day total went up to 6.7 million, which is a 40% increase compared with last year's record of 4.69 million. Both the average daily number and the total number broke the record in Guangzhou Metro's history. The peak passenger flow came on the 1st and 6th day during the holiday while the number for a single day hit 1.03 million. And the most crowded stations during the holiday were Tiyu Xilu (320 thousand passengers recorded) and Guangzhou Railway Station (230 thousand passengers recorded).
