According to a press release dated Feb. 14th from the Guangzhou Municipality's Taxation Office, the self declaration of individual taxpayers, whose annual income exceeds RMB 120,000, has been going well in the last one and a half months. Currently over 40,000 individuals of that category have declared their 2006 income to the taxation office.

Beginning Jan. 1 2007, individuals whose annual income exceeds RMB 120,000 are required to make a self-statement to the taxation office of their taxable income in 2006 before the deadline of Mar. 31 2007.

The taxation office has urged the individuals who wish to meet the deadline, to use the online declaration system to avoid the crowds at the office. The online service is available during the Chinese New Year holiday.
