Shenzhen will hold an international science fair for the first time in April, the city's third State-level international fair after the eight-year-old China Hi-Tech Fair and two-year-old China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair (ICIF).

The first China International Scientific Life Exhibition will be held between April 5 and 8 and showcase the most advanced products and technologies in the fields of energy saving, environmental protection and intelligent home products, according to the organizers.

Other products to be featured in the fair pertain to industries like construction materials, lighting, design, IT, sports, medicine, nutrition, real estate, energy, tourism and environmental protection.

The fair, emphasizing the importance of a recycling economy, will also set aside a special area for visitors to experience the impact cutting-edge technology will have on everyday life.

More than 70 percent of the exhibition booths have been booked, covering 31,000 square meters of area.

A total of 355 companies have signed up to attend, including big names such as Panasonic, Hitachi, Nokia, Epson, Toshiba, LG, BENQ and Haier.

China Hi-Tech Fair 2007 will be held between Oct. 12 and 17 in Shenzhen while the third ICIF will open May 17 and close May 20.
