Guangzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Center will settle in Baiyun District. On January 29th, 2007, 8 design companies obtained competition assignment papers from the Bureau of Urban Planning of Guangzhou Municipality, in order to plan in two months, the second largest domestic planning exhibition hall of almost 60,000 square meters.

The Center will establish the largest domestic city construction archives. It is planned to start construction in the latter half of this year and be open to the public in June 2009. By then, Guangzhou will have had a "New Home" to display in full, its city history.

The Center chose the core area of Baiyun New City as its construction site and its investment will total RMB 500 million. It will cover an area of 29,490 square meters, next only to Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery. Different from most other domestic exhibition halls, the Guangzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Center is composed of the City Planning Exhibition Gallery, City Construction Archives and Independent Business Area with the comprehensive functions of archiving and browsing city construction files and exhibiting city planning construction.
