According to Nanfang Daily, Tang Bingquan, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, met with under Secretary of the United States, Karen Hughes, and the Public Diplomacy Envoy, Michelle Kwan yesterday. 

Tang noted that the trade between Guangdong and the U.S. summed up to 71 billion USD last year, and U.S. investment in the south China province was 9 billion USD. Meanwhile, Guangdong-US friendship was further developed by wide range of exchanges.

Tang said Guangdong welcomes more investors and travelers from the US.  Tang expressed his appreciation of Michelle Kwan, whose ancestors lived in Zhongshan city of Guangdong, saying she was devoted to tighten China-U.S and Guangdong-U.S. ties. 

Karen Hughes and Michelle Kwan visit Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong province, from Jan 21 - 23. During their Guangzhou tour, Michelle Kwan, a five-time World Champion and two-time Olympic medalist, visited Guangzhou English Training Centre for the Disabled, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Changle Primary School.
