On January 17, Guangzhou traffic police department issued the second traffic warning of this year. The traffic police said after the banning of motorcycle riding in Guangzhou, the number of traffic accidents fell dramatically by 40% and the traffic jam even decreased by 50%.

It's analyzed that after the New Year's holiday, the traffic flow in urban area has an obvious rise and the traffic warning also has a rise compared with the same period last year. However, with the effect of banning motorcycle riding in downtown area and enhancing the management of traffic order becoming more and more significant, the total traffic warning is experiencing a fall trend compared with the same period before the motorcycle riding banning. Last week(from January 8 to 14), the total number of the traffic warning in urban area handled by Guangzhou traffic police department was 11925 of which there was 6355 traffic accidents warning with 40.07% fall compared with the same period last year and 1592 traffic jam warning with 51.13 % decreased compared with the corresponding period in 2006.
