Guangdong petrol retail price has lowered since yesterday (Jan 14). Petrol No. 90 is 4.41 yuan per litre down 0.17 yuan per litre, No. 93 is 4.75 yuan per litre down by 0.19 yuan per litre, while No. 97 is 5.15 yuan per litre down by 0.20 yuan per litre, the largest drop.
Meanwhile, diesel oil is maintaining its price. The biggest beneficiaries, automobile owners, are welcoming the news. A care owner surnamed Li drove from his home at Yuexiu District to his office at a university in Conghua every day and the new price will save him about 200 to 300 yuan per month.
A Taxi driver surnamed Zhou said he will spend 150 yuan less per month. Guangzhou Price Bureau said that the change isn't big enough to cancel the one-yuan taxi surcharge fee, and that it will only be ended if No. 93 petrol is 3.7 yuan per litre or lower. Insiders say that because of the warm winter in Europe and America, the oil demand for heaters has declined this year.
Also, the United States' oil storage has dramatically increased. And thus the international oil price sees an obvious drop.
The price was even down to 51.9 US dollars per barrel on January 11, the lowest since June 2005.
