Guangdong government pledged to repair and rebuild all the unsafe houses in rural primary and middles schools. Guangdong governor Huang Huahua made an important speech during a TV conference yesterday (Jan 9), stressing the work should be finished by the end of this year.
From 2001 to 2006, Guangdong government has allocated over 11 billion yuan to develop the 9-year compulsory education in rural areas. Beginning the autumn semester of 2005, all the rural students are exempted from tuition and incidental fees, benefiting 102.5 million school children.
