The Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital is expected to finish work on apartment accommodation for patients next month in Guangzhou.
The new building will have over 200 beds and aims to ease pressure on the hospital's wards.
The apartments will be mainly used for patients requiring examinations before surgery, who are not in a critical condition, and who do not need emergency treatment.
Patients housed in the apartment building will save 30 per cent off their bills compared to those in the hospital's wards.
The apartment building is the first of its kind in Guangdong Province.
