Yuexiu District plans to host two flower fairs during the upcoming Chinese New Year. One will take place in the Yuexiu West Lake Flower Market on Xihu Road and Jiaoyu Road, and the other will be in the Yuexiu East Lake Flower Market on Sanma Road at Dashatou. In addition, stalls will be set up in the Central Flower Market to offer derivative merchandise from animated cartoons.
The existing Yuexiu District is the merger of the two former central urban districts, Dongshan and Yuexiu. Before the merger, each of the districts presented a flower fair. Since the merger, the new Yuexiu District has continued to present two flower fairs each spring, and the 2007 Chinese New Year will be no exception.
According to Yuexiu District officials, both flower fairs will feature distinctive archway setups, stall arrangements, and promotional displays. For example, the Yuexiu West Lake Flower Market will highlight the perfect union of cultural heritage and modern commercial civilization in the district, while the Yuexiu East Lake Flower Market will showcase an innovative Yuexiu District.
In a few days, Yuexiu District will open a special column on its official website (http://www.yuexiu.gov.cn), where citizens can leave suggestions and comments on the archway designs and stall layouts.
