Beginning January 1st, Shenzhen's Luohu checkpoint will introduce an automated passenger clearance system for mainland travelers.
Passengers who hold machine readable travel documents and have had their fingerprint information collected can use the self-service clearance.
Users put their machine readable travel documents on the reader and after finishing authentication they can pass through the channel when the gate doors opens.
After entering the channel, passengers just need to place their thumbs flat on the center of the scanners. After fingerprint verification they can leave the channel.
At present, 10 self-service channels have been installed, 5 for entry and 5 for exit.
