An arts event called the Aftershock Exhibition began last week at the Guangdong Museum of Art and will last until February 4th 2007.
50 pieces of work from 12 British artists created in the early and mid 90s are being introduced to the Chinese public for the first time. They include a sculpture of physicist Stephen Hawking in a wheel chair on a cliff, a molded baby model made of medical powder, dry grape sugar and wax and many other sophisticated pieces of art.
Some audiences say they don't quite understand the message, but the exhibition gives them a strong visual impact.
Curator of the Guangdong Museum of Art, Wang Huangsheng hoped that these modern and on-the-edge pieces can show audiences a multi-cultural art experience.
