Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua met the evaluation delegation from the International University Sports Federation (FISU) in Shenzhen yesterday afternoon (Dec 12).

FISU President George Killian highly praised Shenzhen's sports facilities and local sports activities.

At the meeting, Huang gave a brief introduction of Guangdong's economic, social and sports development. Huang said that Guangdong not only ranks first in economy, but also ranks top in sports.

He also commented that Shenzhen, the 26-year-old city, is a window for China's opening up and reform with great energy and creativity; therefore, it will be an ideal platform for international university students' ideas and sports exchanges.

And that Shenzhen's bid to host the 26th Universiade is an important event in Guangdong and that the province will fully support the city's attempt for the bid.

He added that if Shenzhen succeeds in the bidding, Guangdong will provide various support for the city.
