On December 1, the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee delegation, led by Mayor Zhang Guangning, visited the Doha Asian Games Village in Quatar. Delegates toured the administrative building, cafeteria, and entertainment center for the athletes, shops and lodging for the members of the Chinese Olympic Committee and our Chinese athletes.

Prior to construction, it was decided that the Doha Asian Games Village would be converted for use as a medical center when the Asian Games ended.  When planning the Guangzhou Asian Games Village and venues, the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee will need to consider the utilization of those facilities after the Games are completed and the high performance athletes have returned to their home countries.

Our Organizing Committee met Guangzhou athletes, including badminton player Xie Xingfang, woman's singles winner of World Badminton Championships, badminton players Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen and the Athens Olympics women's doubles winners. Mayor Zhang enthusiastically cheered on the athletes, encouraging them towards greater sporting achievements.
