On November 29th a "Planning Online" announced the control plan for Chigang Consulate area. According to the plan both the environment and amenities surrounding the consulate will be upgraded.

Covering an area of 230,000 square meters the Guangzhou Chigang Consulate district is an important part of the new complex designed for foreign affairs, culture, high-end office and residency use. Located to the east of the south end of the Guangzhou Bridge, the new city lies on the Nantuo axis of the strategic urban development plan for Guangzhou.

Across the river is the New City Center of Guangzhou Pearl River and Ersha Dao Complex and on the east side, close by, is the Pazhou International Expo City. Both form Guangzhou's window to the outside world. The  southern Guanghzou expansion is an important city development plan. As a result, the consulate district and its surrounding area will become one of the hot spots for urban construction in the upcoming years.

Apart from well-furnished amenities, the district enjoys universal transport conveniences as the intersection for metro line 1 and metro line 3 with many bus lines passing close-by. Also close by are Binjiang East Road, Xingang East Road, Guangzhou Avenue and other principal thoroughfares of the city. With the planned Jianghai Avenue across The Pearl River and the present The Guangzhou Bridge alone employs all the conveniences of modern traffic network and, in addition, it connects the East South Ring Highway and the South China Expressway, making it easy to reach all the larger cities in the Pearl River Delta.
