New system of traffic signs runs well

With the financial help of the World Bank, 700 new traffics signs worth RMB40 million (about USD5 million) will go into service this year.

The construction bidding has been conducted. So far, the new system of traffic signs has been successfully trialed in an area from Yingyuan Road to Zhong Shan Wu Lu and from Lianxin Road to Beijing Road.

The new system commonly used all over the world is energy-saving and easy to recognize. New traffic signs are planned to be installed in places like main avenues, business areas, tourist resorts and entrances to stations, by the end of this year.

The whole project will be completed by 2010 when the 16th Asian Games will be held in Guangzhou.
