Since early this year, soaring oil prices have kept the diesel oil market in Guangdong in a tense situation. Most heavy transport vehicles, on which the province's economy depends, are diesels. To relieve the pressure, PetroChina have imported 32,000 tons of diesel oil from Japan, all which is destined for Guangdong, at a cost of 7,000 Yuan/ton.
As of today, the diesel oil will be distributed to gasoline stations around the Pearl River Delta, providing at least temporary respite for drivers.
