A dead whale was found near the bow of an American container vessel from Singapore when it sailed into the Yantian port Saturday afternoon, Sunday's Daily Sunshine reported.

The Shenzhen Maritime Safety Administration removed the whale's body Saturday night and the normal operation of the port was not affected.

The whale is suspected to have died after hitting the container ship in the South China sea.

The cargo vessel, called the "President Truman," is an American ship with a registered tonnage of 60,000 tons. The ship is on a regular line between Singapore and China and berths at the Yantian port once every month.

The whale was found when the ship pulled into shore. It did not affect the navigation of the ship.
