Guangdong's first Teen Calligraphy Final was held at the Guangzhou Gymnasium yesterday (Aug. 20). More than 1,000 teenagers competed in the final.
The first teen calligraphy competition began April of this year and attracted more than 800,000 competitors. Chen Shaoji, chairman of the Guangdong Committee of Chinese Political Consultative Conference, said that calligraphy is an exclusive Chinese traditional art.
He said that he hopes this competition would stimulate the teen's enthusiasm to learn calligraphy. The organizing committee said that they will produce an exhibition and a book, featuring a collection of exceptional work from the competition.
