Thirteen creative schemes for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 29th Olympic Games were awarded in Beijing on Wednesday as the search for proposals concluded, a scheme from Guangdong won consensus of the experts.

The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) launched the solicitation campaign on March 1, 2005, with 409 valid entries arriving at BOCOG's office. After that, BOCOG has received over two thousand letters, email messages and telephone calls to offer their views and proposals, though the solicitation campaign concluded one year ago.

In April this year, famous filmmaker Zhang Yimou was appointed by the BOCOG as the chief director of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Olympic Games, which will be held in Beijing.
