Chaoshan History and Culture Study center has received a donation of 681 antique records featuring Chao dialect opera and music. Singaporean Chinese Chen Chuanzhong donated the discs without any charge.
Chen has been working hard for several years purchasing the large number of records from a Singaporean antique businessman.
The Chaoshan History and Culture Study center now boasts a record collection consisting of the largest amount local music in the country. The discs were produced in the 1920s and span till the early establishment of People's Republic of China. The collection of the discs provided rich resources of Chao dialect opera arias and plays.
