Guangzhou reported a temperature of 35.9 degree Celsius at 2:23 p.m. yesterday, a record high for June 25th. The high temperatures have been affecting the city in many different ways. Consecutive days of high temperatures have led to a strain on electricity consumption.
With the exception of Guangzhou's Tianhe and Liwan districts, all other districts have been on yellow alert. Many local hospitals have recorded an increasing number of patients coming down with the flu.
Some local citizens have chosen to swim or go shopping to get away from the heat. However, the hot weather also benefits the citizens. Guangzhou's vegetable prices have now dropped because of the hot weather.
