Guangzhou Urban Utilities and Landscaping Bureau expects that its face-lift project on 7 cross-river bridges will begin mid-June. Cross-river bridges benefiting from the project include Guangzhou Bridge, Haiyin Bridge, Jiangwan Bridge, Haizhu Bridge, Jiefang Bridge, Renmin Bridge and Hedong Bridge.
The bridges will be coated with lacquer for protection and decorative purposes. The bridges will also be treated for minor damage. All 7 cross-river bridges are over 8 years old, the oldest being Haizhu bridge, built in 1933. It is expected that the project should be completed some time in September.
