Yesterday (June 13), Guangzhou started its selection of 40 citizens who will take part in the Doha Asian Game's torch passing scheduled for October 25 in Guangzhou.

The torch passing will also include 40 other representatives from different organizations and five representatives from Doha Asian Games organizing committee.

Guangzhou Asian Games organizing committee said that to be eligible as a torch carrier you need to be a Guangzhou citizen, over 10 years old and can run 400 metres holding a 1.5 kilogram torch.

The torch carrier also can be a Chinese citizen who has consecutively lived in Guangzhou for more than one year. Interested parties are welcomed to sign up for the event by logging into www.gz.gov.cn. The application deadline is June 21.
