Since the European Union (EU) levied a four-percent provisional anti-dumping tariff on Chinese leather shoes in early April, Guangdong's leather shoe export to Europe has seen a very slow growth rate.
The EU is the third largest export market for Guangdong leather shoes, which account for 30 percent of Guangdong's total export to the EU.
Lat year Guangdong leather shoes export to the EU went up by 69.5 percent. But according to the latest statistics from Guangzhou Customs, Guangdong leather shoes' export to the EU from April to May dropped to just over 6.12 million pairs per month from 7.67 million pairs per month in the first season this year.
In response to the EU's anti-dumping tariff, several shoe production bases like Guangzhou, Wenzhou and Quanzhou have formed an alliance meant to devise a solution to the loss in exports.
