Commencing in July, Finnair will increase its flights between Guangzhou and Helsinki from three to four flights per week.
A Finnair official said that the change is being made to meet the demands of the China market and is a part of Finnair's Asia strategy. He stated that Guangzhou is a shoppers' paradise and a very important business center for Finns.
Also, beginning this month, Finnair flights to Hong Kong will no longer transit in Bangkok. From May through July there will be three direct flights per week to Hong Kong, and four direct flights per week from August through October. The direct flight will save four hours flying time and may attract some Pearl River Delta passengers to travel to and from Finland via Hong Kong.
Finnair will also increase its flights to both Beijing and Shanghai, with daily flights to Beijing, and the number of flights to Shanghai being increased from five to seven.
