Staff members of Shenzhen's maritime safety administration listen to an employee of the Dapeng liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal depot during their inspection of the facility in eastern Shenzhen yesterday. The depot was preparing for the arrival of an Australian LNG tanker that will carry the first LNG shipment to Shenzhen tomorrow.
Some of the city's residents will begin to use LNG, which is less expensive and more environmentally friendly than liquefied petroleum gas, starting August. LPG will eventually be replaced by LNG.
The Dapeng depot is also China's first terminal for receiving and storing LNG.
