Eight bridges will connect the south and north districts of Guangzhou in four years and significantly reduce the travel time for citizens to Panyu.
Besides the present Luoxi Bridge, the 7 bridges to be built are Dongsha Bridge, Luoxi New Bridge, Xinguang Bridge, Panyu Bridge, Nansha Port Expressway (Haixing Port Bridge), Xinzhou-hualong Expressway and Zhujiang Huangpu Bridge.
Methods for bridge toll and transportation management will be worked out by the related department to properly channel the traffic flow.
Zhujiang Huangpu Bridge, 7,049m long, is the easternmost of the eight bridges. It will span the main channel of Zhujiang River (Pearl River) from the north of Boluomiao Dockyard to Cangtang village of Hualong Town of Panyu District, and become the first bridge connecting the east and south parts of Guangzhou. The travel time between Huangpu and Panyu will be only 10 minutes' drive after the completion of the bridge next year.
