Guangzhou will auction another 300 lucky car license plates on May 27 and 28. According to the auction announcement, auction procedures will be the same as those for the first auction.

The Bureau of Finance of Guangzhou Municipality announced that, among the second batch of 300 lucky car license plates, there are 11 plates with the number "888", which have the highest reserve price of RMB 20,000. In Chinese culture, "888" means fortune. Nine of the "888" plates are for Guangzhou, with one each for Huadu and Panyu districts. The lowest reserve price, at RMB 5,000 has been set for license plates with numbers such as "168" and "128".

Those who wish to attend the auctions may register at the exchange hall of Guangzhou Enterprises Mergers & Acquisitions Services, (2/F, No. 162 New Siyou Road, New Wu Yang City, Guangzhou) or register at the auction site on auction day, provided they have all the documents necessary for registration with them.

The auctions will be held at the Guangdong Gymnasium on May 27 and 28, starting at 9 a.m. License plates of Conghua, Huadu, Zengcheng and Panyu Districts will be auctioned at 1 p.m. on May 28. In addition, successful bidders must make payments with bank cards that can be used with the China Unionpay system as cash will not be accepted.

On April 22 and 23 this year, Guangzhou Municipal government auctioned car license plates for the first time; 235 of 300 car license plates were successfully auctioned at the sale, raising a total of RMB 8,832,000. The number "Yue" APC 888 had the highest selling price of RMB 237,000. All income from the auction was transferred to municipal funds, to be used for the support of victims of traffic accidents and the construction of road traffic infrastructure.
