On the afternoon of May 15, Zhang Guangning, the Mayor of Guangzhou, presided over the 104th Session of the 12th Executive Meeting of the municipal government, during which the issue of providing relief to low-income people was discussed.
To improve the basic living conditions of the poorest people, the Committee will work out different standards and provide support for low-income families based on their family structure, health condition, working ability and income level. At the same time, help in finding work will be given to unemployed members of those families.
The measures should facilitate the implementation of the Minimum Living Standard and promote reemployment.
To guarantee the basic living standard of the poorest people, Guangzhou Municipal Government adjusted the urban Minimum Living Standard and the standards for the recognition of low-income families in April and December of 2005.
