The organizing committee of the Second China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair yesterday announced it would try to ensure that intellectual property rights (IPR) were protected during the high-profile cultural event.
According to the organizers, the city’s IPR protection bureau will set up an on-site service counter in the fair’s venue, the Convention and Exhibition Center, offering information and assistance to exhibitors on issues related to IPR protection. Further measures include censoring illegal publications and eliminating pirated DVDs.
“Safeguarding intellectual property rights is a critical factor to decide the success or failure of the cultural fair. We has started a teamwork joined by officials from the city’s public security bureau, technology supervision department, culture bureau, custom checkpoints and urban management bureau to crackdown intellectual property rights violators,” said Wang Youming, chief of the city’s IPR protection bureau.
Meanwhile, experts from the Guangdong publications bureau and Shenzhen publications bureau will work from May 16 to 17 to inspect a total of 15,057 books in 5,410 categories to be exhibited at the fair to see whether there are any copyright violations.
