It is learned from the Guangzhou Tourism Administration's holiday office that during the golden week of the May Day holiday, Guangzhou received 5,357,000 visitors with 1,529,500 visitors staying overnight, reaping RMB 2.791 billion for the tourism industry, up 13.43 percent over the same period last year.

In addition, the tourist resorts in Guangzhou all together received 10,400,900 visitors with the admission tickets revenue of RMB 63,888,500 during the golden week of the May Day holiday. The top five resorts are Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain National Park, Space Flying Spectacular, Tianhe Park, Chimelong Paradise and the Guangzhou Zoo.

As expected, the traffic peak started at the new Baiyun International Airport as the 7-day Golden Week ended. There were 575 in-bound and out-bound flights with some 65,000 passengers, of which 297 were in-bound flights with 37,000 passengers, reaching a 70 percent load factor. According to statistics, there were in total 4,322 in-bound and out-bound flights with some 462,000 passengers at Baiyun Airport from May 1 to 7, up 4 percent and 3.8 percent respectively over the same period last year.

However, due to the large-scale thunderstorm, the visitor flow didn't increase significantly during the golden week of the May Day holiday.

Acceding to a conservative estimation, the total passenger flow for the 4 metro lines hit 5,689,800 passengers, with a daily passenger flow of 812,000 passengers. Metro Line 3 and 4 went through the test of Golden Week transportation successfully for the first time.

The total passenger flow for Guangzhou Metro Transportation System on May 1 hit 1,135,000 passengers, making the highest passenger flow record in Golden Week. Metro Line 1 had 598,000 passengers, Metro Line 2 had 481,000 passengers, Metro Line 3, 37,000 passengers and Metro Line 4 had 19,000 passengers.
