Guangdong government decided to allocate 570 million yuan in construction of water irrigation and conservation facilities over the next 5 years, said Guangdong vice Governor Li Ronggen at an agricultural meeting held yesterday (April 5). 

This measure is to improve the agricultural water system and increase resistance to flood and drought of rural areas. Agricultural development is on the top of the agenda of the government work and a large amount of money has been invested in agricultural projects. Last year, 850 kilometer of dykes and 402 reservoirs have been repaired and reinforced, and 640 small water irrigation and conservation projects have been completed.
