Digital Cable TV Transition Launches in Guangzhou - Guangdong - News Brief

Guangzhou Radio and Television Network Company, Ltd. (GZCATV) signed an agreement with US-based NDS on the introduction of the "NDS VideoGuard" conditional access system for GZCATV's transition to digital cable TV services.

According to a spokesman with GZCATV, the digital cable TV transition has now begun and will be implemented very quickly Guangzhou-wide.

The main function of the conditional access system is to encrypt cable TV signals and enable authorized users to receive them. Through this system, users will be able to get access to top-quality digital TV programs as well as stable, reliable and secure information services including E-commerce.

The system will also provide intellectual property protection for content providers and cable TV operators.
