Party Secretary Zhang Dejiang of Guangdong province met with Bon Joon Koo, CEO of LG.Philips LCD yesterday in Guangzhou before heading to Beijing for the annual session of National People¡¯s Congress.

LG.Philips LCD is one of the world's leading TFT-LCD manufacturers, with a sales volume of 9.9 billion USD in 2005. The company plans to set up factories in Guangdong which will focus on producing TFT-LCDs for television and IT industries.

The project is expected to stimulate the development of related industries in Guangdong, including optical electronics, new materials, chemicals and IT. As a result, the province¡¯s information industry will be strengthened.

Zhang made a brief introduction of Guangdong¡¯s IT industry to his guest, saying Guangdong has been No.1 in the country in industrial output of electronic and IT, and the province takes up 1/3 of the country¡¯s sales and exportation of such products. Moreover, Guangdong is biggest market for LCD in the country. The province welcomes LG.Philips¡¯s investment.

Bon Joon Koo said both LG.Philips and Guangdong had passion in making development and believed the cooperation will birth a success.
