It's not yet time to put away your winter clothes, because the city is expecting a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius tomorrow.
Under the influence of a strong cold front from the north, the minimum temperature will drop to 13 degrees Celsius today and 10 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and Thursday, the city's observatory said yesterday.
"It's rare to see temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius in this season in Shenzhen in recent years," said Peng Yonggang, a weather forecaster. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 3 degrees Celsius at the end of February in 1996, but after that temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius have been rarely seen.
The cold front will also bring some rainfall, but that will not be enough to ease the continuing drought in the city, said Peng. February recorded only 12 millimeters of waterfall, less than a day's rainfall in the rainy months of April and June.
The temperature will rise again Friday.
