Shenzhen Airport raked in 475 million yuan (US$58 million) in profits last year, the largest amount of money made by a mainland airport, an airport spokesman said Tuesday.
The airport contributed to about a quarter of the total profits made by the nation's 145 commercial airports last year and was a 22.4 percent jump from 2004.
The airport's international business jumped last year. It saw 449,000 international travelers and 63,000 tons of international cargo last year, up 91 percent and 7.4 percent from the year 2004.
Its international flights also increased greatly last year. It opened three international cargo routes, with its total number of international routes reaching 10. Passenger flights to Seoul, Manila, and Ho Chi Minh opened last year, bringing the total number of its international passenger routes to nine.
