Police arrested six suspected members of a criminal ring that swindled and robbed over 20,000 yuan (US$2,466) from jobseekers in the past month.
The police raided an apartment in an office building in Luohu District last week, after several jobseekers complained of being swindled out of between 100 and 350 yuan there.
The police later found that a jobseeker surnamed Zhan had been charged 1,500 yuan by the suspects, who drove him out of the apartment after taking his money.
When the police raided the apartment Feb. 7, they found three jobseekers being beaten. The three later claimed to have been robbed of between 700 and 1,800 yuan. Six suspects were arrested, all of whom admitted to the charges.
