Shenzhen has developed China's first TV set with an internal recording device, the Daily Sunshine reported yesterday.
The TV set, developed by Shenzhen-based Skyworth, one of China's well-known TV set manufacturers, passed local experts' appraisal over the weekend.
Bai Jijie, vice head of Skyworth's research institute, said the device can help people record TV programs and ensure the screen image is as clear as high-definition DVD players.
He said the TV set is an unprecedented development since more modern countries only use a set-top box linked to the TV set to make recordings.
A report has been submitted to the provincial government on listing the achievement as a breakthrough in the sector in 2005, the paper said.
Shenzhen is the nation's leader in the development and research of digital TV production and programs.
